Star Wars Episode VII News: Week 23

Back in Business, Baby
This summer was amazing. Episode VII news wise, of course. This summer had ten times more information on production, casting, rumors, and basically every other detail, than the summer of 2013 ever did. As information flooded in, it seems that Abrams and crew were struggling to keep Episode VII under wraps. Kicking off the summer was an official announcement that two new actresses were cast in the role, including Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie. This might be the first Star Wars film to finally pass the Bechdel Test. In July, the production of Episode VII grinded to a halt after Harrison Ford broke his ankle in a mishap involving the hydraulic door of the Millennium Falcon falling on his leg. Principle production would not resume until August 27. In between that time, numerous details were leaked online by various organizations. Many were outright wacky, including one involving a quest for Luke Skywalkers severed hand. Other rumors put Daisy Ridley, one of the cast, as the lead role in Epsiode VII. A more recent one that appeared towards the end of the summer was the leak of photos that show a new Stormtrooper helmet design. Check it out:

This looks suspiciously like the Cylons from Battlestar Galactica. But that's just me. These things look awesome, and I"m hoping the Stormtroopers are actually a threat this trilogy. There were other rumors, and also many official announcements, including the descision for Rian Johnson to be the writer and director of Star Wars: Episode VIII. His response: this tweet. It is amusing. In due course, rumors were born and rumors died. However, one of the biggest rumors to break this summer was an image for a new villain, called an "Inquisitor", holding the mask of Darth Vader (who has had plenty of rumors about his appearance in Episode VII.
Of course, this could be nothing more than fan art, and I'm not so sure if Vader should be resurrected. It would feel forced. I'm sure that's not what fans want (Well, they'll want it, but after seeing it, they'll regret wanting it). Anyways, too many rumors, leaks and images involving Episode VII came out to even count, and if I said them all, I would never finish. Suffice to say, I'm glad to be back, and hopefully there will be more news to come. I will leave you with an awesome actual fan image that reflects the scale this movie will bring us. See you next week.
